Reading/choir/performance in memory of the women of the Eccidio
“There are months and years when nothing happens. There are times when the granaries are full and others when they are empty. Days when the nets come in full, and others when they lie lifeless on the black bottom of a barchino. The poet recalls a hundred stories; the barrel organ accompanies the rhymes and songs. But today death is holding a feast. There is not a breath, a moan, a chirp, a bray. Even the ox looks on, lowers its head and is silent.”
