The first part of the new season at Frantoio di Fucecchio continues with two months packed with shows and workshops. Firenza Guidi is offering four workshops at the Permanent Training School for Performers and a brand new play in November and December.
The first workshop is scheduled for Sunday 18 November and is entitled MICROCOSMI 2_TUTTI?FRUTTI. This is a special edition of the MICROCOSMI Creative Writing Workshop conceived and directed by guidi, which will exceptionally be held at the Agriturismo Borgo Casorelle in Lamporecchio.
Writers will have the opportunity to spend the workshop hours in a welcoming and evocative location that will be the starting point for creative impulses and the production of texts. The creative writing workshop will end with an aperitif event open to all, during which participants can eat, drink and dance to rock “n” roll.
The activities of the Permanent School of the Frantoio will then continue from 20 to 23 November with LOOK, WORD AND BODY: THE PASSIONATE VOICE. A workshop on voice projection, diction and singing,
an exciting journey into the dark recesses of the voice. A journey through which participants will have the opportunity to discover, whisper and shout to the world with their passionate voice. The workshop, which focuses mainly on the voice, does not, however, forget the importance of physicality and the gestures of the performer who lends their body to a new stage identity. The well-rounded actor conceived by guidi faces new challenges and confronts different disciplines, always with a view to expressive research and creation.
From 30 November to 2 December, performances open to the public will be held of the brand new production conceived and directed by Firenza Guidi, LE TREDICI ROSE (The Thirteen Roses). We are in Madrid, in August 1939. Thirteen women, most of whom are not yet twenty years old, await death in the women’s prison in the Las Ventas district. Arrested as subversives by the Falangists of Francisco Franco’s new dictatorship, they desperately live out their fate as victims together. Inspired by a true story, the show is the result of careful research carried out by the director on both written sources and oral testimonies collected in the places where the events took place. LE TREDICI ROSE also provides a unique opportunity to teach young people about the history of the Franco regime: for this reason, in addition to performances open to the public, a programme of special repeat performances has been planned, involving students from schools in the Empolese-Valdelsa district. The performance will take place in a specially erected circus tent and will be presented at the Cuentame bookshop in Empoli on 19th November.
The last workshop before the frantoio closes for Christmas will be dedicated to contemporary circus: THE UGLIEST IN THE WORLD, whose title is loosely based on Olga Tokarczuk’s “The Ugliest Woman in the World”. The workshop is scheduled to take place from 10 to 15 December and is aimed at those who wish to explore and expand their performance skills through a fascinating creative process and the learning of new languages. The course offers two different modes of participation: a basic mode recommended for those approaching circus performance for the first time and a full-time mode dedicated to those who already have experience in the field of circus arts.
