A play written and directed by Firenza Guidi
Whilst for many survivors speaking about their experiences in the extermination camps was a difficult, almost impossible task, it was even more so for the women who survived the reality of the Sonderbau to speak about their lives in the Nazi brothels.
The subject was, and still is, taboo.
Eclissi is a theatrical performance about the first 10 female prisoners sent to the Sonderbau, or ‘Special House’, the first brothel established at Buchenwald and intended for use by prisoners of the Nazi concentration camp as an incentive to productivity.
