Madrid, August 1939. Thirteen women, most of them under the age of twenty, are waiting to die in the women's prison in the quarter of Las Ventas. Arrested under the accusation of being Communist fighters by the new dictatorship of Francisco Franco, not all of them were actually involved with the revolutionary forces of the Popular Front: innocent and powerless in the face of a regime eager to give exemplary punishments, together they desperately live out their destiny as victims.
