In this workshop we will be looking at a physical exploration of mask and body distortion. We will working to develop individual interpretation of various types of mask to create a rich and evocative approach to theatre, dance and movement. In this process we will also investigate the use of shadow and body extension as a tool for physical distortion and manipulation. There will be the chance to make and adapt your own mask and develop it physically though out the workshop.
Joe Wild has been making masks for performance for over 3 years. He is a trained dancer (Laban) and regularly teaches and performs throughout the U.K and Europe. Angharad Matthews is a Wales-based theatre designer and dancer. Joe and Angharad are in the process of devising a new performance that incorporates much of the work that will be taught at the workshop.
