What is laughter? What makes people laugh? What is this thing that gets me in stitches every time I see it?
Being funny is a particular alchemy of innocence, originality, generosity, observation, seduction, hope, naughtiness, love, self- irony, dignity, energy, life, vulnerability, stupidity, wit, tenderness and god-knows-how-many-other-things. Performers have more chance of being funny when they are free of fear. A clown does not judge and is not afraid of other people's judgement. Performers have more chance of being funny when they can themselves make more room for laughter. When they can turn their own shortcomings into assets, becoming irresistibly, seductively and endearingly funny. The workshop explores this weird and wonderful essence called making-people-laugh as something that is living, personal and individual and offers a creative space to watch it blossom and grow.
Laughing Out Loud is one of Firenza Guidi's most popular workshops world-wide and one of the main strands underpinning her unique style of training and performance.
