DS_The Elf of the Rose

DS_THE ELF OF THE ROSE is an exciting investigation into the language of unicycle to create a rich and multi-faceted narrative.

The potential of the unicycle as a powerful physical and emotional language has not been fully investigated. This second phase, primarily addressed to young adults, is loosely inspired by H.C. Andersen's fable, "The Elf of the Rose".

In the work, we have explored the relation between unicycle (an object which can never be absolutely still) and Andersen's story to explore and create 4 distinct yet interrelating identities based on the characters in the story.

Part of the work will be presented to the young residents of the Autistic Centre "Casa di Ventignano", in San Pierino, near Florence.

Director Firenza Guidi says, "With this first encounter, we want to get closer to the lives of autism sufferers. We would like to meet these young people and learn how to welcome them into our community, outside their centre. Tomorrow afternoon, it will be us going to "Casa di Ventignano". In the future, we will work towards creating the environment that will enable "Casa di Ventignano" to come to us."
