Erendira_ovvero La Vigilia della Rivoluzione

Presentation of the circus arts workshop

This is the advanced circus arts workshop organised by Elan Frantoio, which for a week hosted young artists from Europe’s most prestigious schools: E.S.A.C. in Brussels, Frick in Turin, Circa Media in Bristol, Circus Space in London, Lido in Toulouse, and N.I.C.E. in Melbourne. It is a marvel of cultures, of invented words, of shared smiles. Eyes meet eyes, and the body carries on where language stops. It is precisely this understanding, this contact with other realities, that is the watchword of this project, which celebrates internationality: you arrive and already feel part of something that is born and grows by the minute, breath by breath. Alongside the professionals, young people from Fucecchio have had the opportunity to engage with unconventional arts, to learn the basics of various disciplines (trapeze, rope, hoop, …) and to explore the body’s potential as a tool for play, expression, art and communication. The workshop becomes a total experience, a celebration of exchange and enrichment, a unique and unrepeatable opportunity.

And all of this, as always, emerging from an almost unconscious creative flow, as natural as the beating of the heart, like the movements and gestures of true performers because they are present in the moment, finds form and shape in Firenza Guidi’s editing: the energy is shaped, taking on the characteristics of a story; it becomes a revolt, and is the revolution of blazing fire, of water, of stinging rain; it is the revolution of the earth that sustains and buries, of the wind that bends the forests. It is the revolution of a woman, Erendira: it is her sad yet strong body, violated yet virginal, that makes the elements cry out.
