Presentation of the circus arts workshop led by Firenza Guidi
Have you ever dreamed of running away with the circus? This circus doesn’t smell of popcorn and has no lions or elephants with sad eyes dancing the waltz to the beat of a baton. This circus walks in stiletto heels and smells of roses.
To escape a reality of hardship and ugliness, three young people take refuge in the war-torn land of Borogravia, an imaginary world born of their vivid imagination. In this world, the three children create characters that are partly real and partly fictional, including the young and beautiful Polly Perks, who sets off on an adventurous journey in search of her brother Paul, lost in one of the many wars started by the Borogravians. To ensure she can join the terrible army of Borogravia, Polly decides to dress as a man, take the new name Oliver, and set off in search of her brother Paul. During her journey, Polly meets various characters, including Corporal Strappi and Sergeant Jackrum, but also tender, faded figures sprung from the children’s imagination. In the end, however, everything must return to the bleak and sad reality of everyday life, leaving the world of Borogravia like a deflated, crumpled ball on the ground.
