The story of a young woman and her monsters
Dozens of desks, at each one a Mary Shelley holding her pen; the moment it touches the paper, it creates. A creation that gives birth to a monster. The journey undertaken by the spectator is, first and foremost, a journey into writing, into the act of composing, into the creative process and into racking one’s brains whilst that process takes place. The monster is born, and it has no name: Frankenstein, in fact, is the scientist’s surname, which, over the years, shifts from the creator to the creature. And perhaps this coincidence of identity is no accident; perhaps the monster is, first and foremost, the one who builds the monster; and the creator, even before the doctor, is the writer. It is the artist who is the first monster, who, through alchemical acts, brings the creature to life; and this creature grows larger, rebels and may turn against him.
