A show/performance conceived and directed by Firenza Guidi and performed by Year 13 students from the ‘A. Checchi’ Scientific High School in Fucecchio
Hamlet, our contemporary. The tragedy of the very young Prince of Denmark and the even younger Ophelia, who is in love with him, provides a relevant and highly topical backdrop for exploring the struggles faced by young people in today’s world. It is, in fact, Shakespeare’s Hamlet that inspired the theatre performance workshop organised by Elan Frantoio in collaboration with the “A. Checchi” High School. The students are involved in the entire creative and production process of the show, guided by the team of professionals from the Frantoio in Fucecchio, from lighting design to performance, from the conception and creation of costumes to media and organisational aspects.
The parent-child relationship, love and the madness of love, honour and morality, being and appearing: the workshop-performance weaves a web of connections between various themes in a significant project for students preparing for their final exams this year. The text of Shakespeare’s play will be adapted by Firenza Guidi to explore multiple aspects of youth distress.
