Lacrimando, Lacrymosa e Il Grido della Béa

Written and directed by Firenza Guidi

Lacrimando, Lacrymosa (first performed in 2004) takes its inspiration from the inscriptions on the gravestones in Fucecchio cemetery and in the cloister of the Chiesa dei Frati, as collected in *O tu che pio ti aggiri…*, edited by Silvia Lami and Riccardo Cardellicchio.

Il Grido della Béa develops a new style of documentary theatre, using first-hand accounts to explore SAFFA, the match factory that shaped the lives of the people of Fucecchio and beyond for half a century. In 1979, Saffa closed its doors. With it, a world came to an end that can never be reconstructed. The cry of the béa has been silenced forever.
