Two performances on the theme of domestic violence directed by Firenza Guidi and performed by Leire Mesa and Laura Bencini
Two different artistic languages addressing the same theme: domestic violence. Two performances—circus and theater. A new collaboration between international director Firenza Guidi and her team and the Quattrox4 Association.
On Sunday, April 28, at the Milanese venue Lab. Quattrox4 on Via Pericle 16, two shows in a single evening will address the issue of violence against women through multiple performative languages.
The first show of the evening, I LIVE, is the true and vivid story of Basque trapeze artist Leire Mesa, who draws on her own life experiences to recount her relationship with her father.
The second show, BAGLADY—written in 1985 by Frank McGuinness and translated and adapted for the first time in Italy by Firenza Guidi—tells the story of a homeless woman who carries the remnants of her life wrapped in plastic bags, addressing themes such as loneliness, marginalization, violence, and the denial of oneself and one’s past. On stage, a single actress, Laura Bencini, and a torrent of words.
Director, playwright, and educator, Firenza Guidi has been creating theater, circus, and film performances around the world for years. Born in Milan, Guidi has long dedicated herself to new dramaturgy that brings women’s stories to the forefront.
