XIII International School of Performance
There is nothing left to eat, there is no water, there is no government, there are no hierarchies, there are no obligations, there is no order to things. This is not anarchy; it is blindness.
Bianco is an exploration of fear: of contagion, of death, of the fear of failure, of the fear of loving, the fear of not making it, the fear of the wind and the dark, of loneliness, in a play of places and memory. Fear blinds us. And so, “What do you look at when you cannot see?” Bianco winds its way through a visual journey between consciousness and knowledge: a journey that runs parallel to the awareness of good and evil and the ability to distinguish what is real from what is imaginary.
And what if this asylum, this building-labyrinth-school-home-city-cave, were a real or imaginary place where we were sent to face all our fears? Where we go to dig deep within ourselves to encounter our ugliness and insecurities, our secrets and the deepest recesses of our consciousness, our remorse or regrets, the pain and all the things we don’t want to know about ourselves, and slide down, deeper and deeper until the end of the ramp, only to emerge alive and renewed under a heavy rain that washes away the tears, sweat, and blood?
