RAW ENERGY_MATERIA PRIMA is an event created specifically by Frantoio di Fucecchio as part of Piazzalavoro, an initiative by Circondario Empolese Valdelsa that will be presented tomorrow in firenza, in the Galleria delle Carrozze of Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Directed by Firenza Guidi, who has been active in the world of work and youth for many years, the performance/installation will have two moments of visibility: in the morning, immediately after the day’s press conference, and in the afternoon, during an event dedicated to young people organised by the Tuscany Region. The two moments are designed to highlight some of the connections between art, work, theatre and life.
RAW ENERGY will kick off the new season of the frantoio and its Permanent School. Firenza Guidi’s work, which for three years has been dedicated to exploring issues of diversity and marginalisation with a programme entitled La Ragione e il suo Rovescio (Reason and its Opposite), will push the boundaries of performance research in 2012/2013, delving into the intricacies of human conflict in all its forms: from generational conflict, a cause of incommunicability but also of identification and exchange between fathers, mothers and children, to gender conflict, a cause of violence and the creation of social stereotypes. The Frantoio’s objective is, as is now established practice, to involve schools and young people as much as possible in the development of the themes explored through workshops, masterclasses, performances and creative residencies with Italian and international artists.

The most important event of the first part of the season will be LAS VENTAS, a performance conceived and directed by Firenza Guidi, inspired by the true story of thirteen girls, almost all under the age of twenty and almost all seamstresses, who were shot by Franco’s repressive regime on 5 August 1939. The show will be staged in November, on the occasion of the Festa della Toscana and the day against violence against women.
