Journey/reading/choir/installation in memoria of Holocaust victims.
Performance for schools; conceived and directed by Firenza Guidi – performed by the Frantoio’s Permanent Company.
When:
02.12.2019 – 07.12.2019
Where:
Auditorium ‘La Tinaia’ Parco Corsini – Fucecchio
As evidence of the fact that memory – indeed, Memory – is a painful exercise that needs to be repeated constantly (when we stop, oblivion advances effortlessly), the Frantoio di Fucecchio, following a large request from schools in the surrounding area, is repeating the journey, that of the deportees and that of the public, between past and present, so that the dialogue between the two times remains alive.
The performance, inspired by Guidi’s numerous trips to the concentration camps of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, as well as Terezin (Czech Republic) and Ebensee (Austria) and, more recently, to the camps of Ravensbrück and Buchenwald in Germany together with students from the Cerreto Guidi secondary school, Vinci and Sovigliana, aims to evoke a historical moment that is unparalleled in terms of the physical, material and spiritual damage caused to millions of human beings; it is a testimony to the past, an invitation to see its signs in the present.
